Iconic British actor, most remembered for playing the Frankenstein monster for Universal. There are publicity stills showing him on set with Laurel and Hardy in a foreign-language version of Pardon Us called "Sous Les Verrous." He was originally thought to have replaced Walter Long but Randy Skretvedt's research showed that he did not. However, Karloff DID play a convict in the French version, which is believed to be lost. He was married six times. He was cremated at Guildford Crematorium, Godalming, Surrey, England, where he is commemorated by a plaque in Plot 2 of the Garden of Remembrance.
