(suicide by barbiturates (Seconal), age 36)

Fiesty leading Latin-American actress who was 'famous' for a variety of reasons: she married Tarzan star Johnny Weissmuller in 1933 (they divorced six years later) and is remembered for one of the most bizarre and embarrassing suicides in Hollywood history - an urban legend which later turned out to be fabricated (it was reported that she drowned in a toilet after becoming violently ill). She was also pregnant at the time of her death.
Lupe is buried at the Panteon Civil de Dolores in Mexico City.
