American actor and singer. He worked successfully as an MC in night clubs, mainly in "the East" and performed dancing routines with his wife of many years as Regina Jordan and Ty Parvis. She was Edythe Bither (1915-1996) and after retiring to Las Vegas they raised Yorkshire Terrier show dogs and were very active in the SPCA. His 1940 Draft Card lists his "complexion" as "freckled". It also lists his official height at 5'8".
In April 2017, his nephew wrote to me and offered the following information: "Uncle Ty married Regina and they became a professional dance couple (like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers). They entertained on cruise ships. I have no knowledge of his (if any) Military Service. I know Aunt Regina was from the San Francisco bay area. Ty and Regina lived on the East Coast, White Plains, New York most of my growing up years. As I recall, they had established a very successful Beauty Parlor/Hair Salon in New York. They lived there until they decided to retire (?) They then re-located to Las Vegas, Nevada. I had very infrequent contact with Ty and Regina and only saw them when they came to LA, Calif. to visit my mother and grandparents. My Mother (Ty's sister) went to Hollywood Professional School as an aspiring entertainer (Dorothy LaVelle Parvis). I recall family conversations about her appearing in several our gang comedy shorts but have never verified it. Ty was about 5'10" tall, very outgoing, happy, and all around good guy. |
