American actor, who was a close personal friend of Stan Laurel. His appearances varied between background parts and lead roles in the films of Laurel & Hardy and was a regular actor in many other Hal Roach comedies during the 1930s.
He was married (May 6, 1913 in Cuyahoga County, Ohio) to Alice Cooke, who was six years his senior. In the 1910s they, along with Stan Laurel formed a trio act which toured the States. Interestingly enough, all of "Baldy"s siblings had the middle name Gardiner!
