American actress. Her husband was Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. from 1914 until his death in 1932. The Oscar-winning movie The Great Ziegfeld (1936) was based on his life, and on which Billie worked as an assistant. For most people she will be best remembered as Glinda the Good Witch in "The Wizard Of Oz" (1939). Her remains are interred at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York, USA. |
