A small group of people take refuge from a storm inside a cave where they discover ancient markings on the walls. The 'keeper' of the cave begins to explain the meanings behind the markings by telling a story of two tribes: the 'rock people' (men) and 'shell people' (women) from long ago. We are transported back to a time where the Earth was cooling, rocks were prominent, volcanos and dinosaurs dominated the landscape. Tumak (VICTOR MATURE) is the son of Akhoba (LON CHANEY JR) and is encouraged to attack a puppet dinosaur and as he does, some old fart slips on a rock and falls down a cliff to his death. Nobody cares, as they carry on with their day and the man is soon the desire of vultures who gather close by. After killing the puppet Tumak boasts to his father of his triumph like he deserves some kind of medal for his heroics? Some pretty ugly women then carry the carcus off for a feast as the group walk coldly and boldly past their dying companion. Brutal! |
