CHARLEY CHASE: TWO FINE LADIES - MACK & EVANS.

In the 1930s Charley Chase was chucking out films at a rate of approximately 10 a year. Two of his leading ladies, sharing a total of 18 films between them, were BETTY MACK (1901-1980)... and MURIEL EVANS (1910-2000).

Both ladies were beautiful, one of them even allegedly had an affair with Chase, and both could handle themselves in a leading role, often as (but not always) Mrs. Chase. Both Mack and Evans appeared in exactly 9 films each with Charley. For Betty, her standout performance being in the 1934 comedy, I'LL TAKE VANILLA; and for Muriel, who could forget her mouth-gaping erotic scene with the asparagus on the train in YOUNG IRONSIDES (1932).

Mack was nine years older than Evans; both had pretty large "assets" - and neither were shy about showing off their figures for the camera. Ironically, it was not with Charley Chase that Muriel was at her most stunning best. She shows up in two "Taxi Boys" shorts where she shows off some skin. For Betty, you need to see her in MIDSUMMER MUSH (1933), her first teaming with Chase.
