Laura Roessing |
born: 13 June 1892 Leadville, Colorado, United States of America |
died: 26 February 1969 Los Angeles, California, United States of America (age 76) |
American actress. She was Mrs. Spat in the short-lived 'Spat' series for Hal Roach between 1924-25. Her parents were Jacob B. Danielson (born Oct 1852) and Josephine S. Oleson (born Oct 1854), both natives of Sweden. They married in Creston, Union, Iowa, USA on June 6, 1882. She had at least one older sister, Florence Etta Danielson (September 8, 1887 - September 26, 1978), born in Creston, Iowa, USA. On October 26, 1916, Florence married a Minnesota native, passenger agent (later railway traffic manager) Charles Vernon Means (October 14, 1879 - February 15, 1960). Laura married three times. Her first marriage was to Benjamin Victor Roessing (August 24, 1884 - July 14, 1954) on December 7, 1907 in Golden, Jefferson, Colorado, USA. Ben was over 21, while Laura claimed to be over 18. They divorced in Los Angeles in June 1918 (per Benjamin's second marriage certificate). Over a decade later, Laura Roessing remarried to John Eager Finnall (November 24, 1881 - April 16, 1954) on December 19, 1928 in Orange, California, USA. The widowed Finnall (aged 47), a California native (son of Virginia-born Marion Finnall and New York-born M. Louise Eager), worked in real estate. Divorcee Laura, claiming age 32 (and therefore, an 1896 birth year), has entered her second marriage. Interestingly, while John resides 106 Collins Ave. in Balboa, Cal., Laura is back in Denver, living at 672 Calmet Ave. I believe this marriage lasted until John's death (they were still married as of a June 1952 Passenger List). Her third marriage was to Joseph [O. or D.] Carey (? - ?) on November 10, 1956 in Clark, Nevada, USA (presumably Vegas). Laura Marie Danielson-Roessing-Finnall-Carey died February 26, 1969 in Los Angeles, California, USA as Laura M Carey. |
