BABE HARDY COLLABORATIONS |
1915-1926 |
Babe Hardy's film career began as far back as 1914. In 1915 he first appeared in a new series of films called POKES & JABBS (starring Walter Stull as Pokes and Bobby Burns as Jabbs). The films listed on the menu are only those in which Hardy appeared. For a full list of the films in the series, please refer to the list at the bottom of the page. Towards the end of this series Hardy began playing a character called "Plump" with Billy Ruge taking up the role of "Runt". Hardy & Ruge broke away from the Pokes & Jabbs series to form their own PLUMP & RUNT series, which ran for 36 films in 1916. The first film of this series is "This Way Out" (1916), where he took the character name of Plump, though this was still considered part of the P&J series. A year later and Babe teamed with Billy West for a series of films with King Bee. In 1919, Hardy teamed with Jimmy Aubrey, and later that year began a long association with Larry Semon. For further, more detailed information on Babe Hardy's film career without Stan Laurel, you are encouraged to read Rob Stone's "LAUREL OR HARDY" book. |
