American child actress. In 1952, she won a beauty pageant. A few months later, she was sticken with polio while in Mexico City, Mexico, and spent a few months in a hospital there and was finally recovered enough to be flown home in a specially equipped military transport plane. She was able to work a job as a script girl for CBS Television until her death at the young age of 31. She is interred at Westwood Memorial Park, Los Angeles, California. "LA Times" 27 September 1960 p. 47 Obituary: "MISS SHIRLEY Y. LOHN: Funeral services for Miss Shirley Yvonne Lohn, 31, television script reader, will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at Pierce-Hamrock Mortuary. Miss Lohn died Sunday of a heart condition while on a visit in Fresno. She lived at 301 S Camden Drive, Beverly Hills. She was a graduate of Westlake School for Girls and Sarah Lawrence College. She leaves her mother, Winifred, and a brother, Ellsworth." |
