There are a couple oddities about Virginia's history: Her 2 obituaries give her maiden name as "Risk" which was actually "Rist". One obituary and a 1938 ship's passenger manifest gives her birthday as July 31st. The two Social Security references give her birthday as July 30th. She is in the 1920 Census twice:first in LA (05 Jan. without her Dad): second in Tucson, AZ (15 Jan.with her Dad).
The entire family, including grandparents, were all born in Pennsylvania EXCEPT Virginia! In 1910, in PA, the Dad was a coal mine supervisor. In 1920, he was in CA trading cattle. He went to Tucson with his brother and parents to set up and operate their own cattle ranch which explains his absence in the Jan 5th Census. The Tucson Census says Virginia was also born in PA but this doesn't agree with the other Censuses (1940 & 1950), the 1938 ship's passenger manifest or both obituaries. The 1930 Census is odd because it shows her with her first husband (1928 David B. Hampton) in Manhattan and she and her parents as born in New York. He is a magazine writer and she has no profession.
