American actor. His 1940 WWII Draft Card reads "Joseph Edward Coan". A hand-written notation in the upper margin of the card reads: "5/19/42 name legally changed to Richard Clayton". His employer is Warner Bros Studios and his birthday is given as "June 4th" (sic).
