Popular leading American silent-screen comedian, one half of the comedy team 'Ham and Bud' (with Bud Duncan) between 1914-1917. He was good friends with sometimes co-star Charley Chase whom he was directed by in a few films in the early 1920s. Hamilton was close to securing a contract with Hal Roach at one point but was rejected due to his battles with alcohol addiction. He was married twice, both to actresses he had worked with; Ethel Lloyd (1913-1926), and Irene Dalton (1927-28). Both ended in divorce. Hamilton died at the young age of just 43 after battling an illness. |
