Snub works for the "Speed Messinger Co." and, along with other employees, is given an assignment by a lady (MARIE MOSQUINI) who tells him to take some dresses to an artist's address for her. Before Snub can get on his bicycle a rival employee (EDDIE BOLAND) rides off on it so Snub makes chase after him on foot. After catching up with the guy Snub reclaims the bicycle and rides off to his destination and now with the rival giving pursuit down the middle of the street. The rival ends up getting stuck in a gate so Snub tickles him. Snub arrives at a garden where a painter (BOB O'CONOR) is doing portraits of a bunch of ugly women who are posing for him. Snub quickly takes over and starts arranging the women into different positions when his custer (MARIE) turns up. Marie removes part of her dress to reveal her shapely legs which makes Snub all hot under the collar. When the artist returns to see it the two men begin fighting on the lawn just as the jealous husband (NOAH YOUNG) arrives home to witness everything. Snub and the painter run inside the house to hide but naturally the husband follows them. After a brief scuffle it is decided among the men that pistols should be used in order to settle the dispute. Snub gets in a cheap shot which enrages the husband into giving chase before they finally end up in the living room with Snub getting his face pummelled repeatedly as the rivalk messenger (BOLAND) reappears to watch the action! The wife breaks it up when she tells the husband she only hired a guy to paint her portrait to make him happy. Poor Snub is left lying on the floor beaten up as the couple leave. |
Favourite bit If I had to choose one scene, I mean if I really had to... then it would be the scene with Noah Young smashing Snub Pollard's face in. |
Trivia • Copyrighted March 11, 1920. • There are sources that list Ernest Morrison as being in the film. I think this is a mistake and I have excluded him in this listing. • Noah Young punches Snub Pollard a total of 37 times in the face in one scene. My opinion • Predictable boring bollocks as usual for a Snub Pollard film. There wasn't one remotely good scene. |
