American child actor, the son of actor Dick Gilbert. His sister was Virginia Gilbert.
His World War II draft registration card (16 Oct 1940) gives the now 21-year old Dick Jr.'s statistics as: 5' 11" tall, 148 lb., blue eyes, blonde hair, light complexion. He graduated from Los Angeles City College and served in the army for four years, spending two of them in Alaska. At the time of his 1946 marriage, he is working as an auditor for a Los Angeles insurance company. By 1950, he is divorced and working as a bartender in Lincoln, New Mexico. Dick Jr. is buried next to his father at Goldfield Cemetery in Goldfield, Nevada.
