Arthur was a prolific stage and TV actor who also did films and radio. He was doing TV until he died.
Absent a birth record, his birthplace of Tehachapi, CA is derived from his WWII Draft Card and the 1900 Censuses of his then single Mom (Mattie Taylor 1878-1964) and Dad (Arthur Edward Lovejoy Sr. 1874-1953) both of whom were born there. They married in 1902 after the Dad was discharged from the US Navy, having served in the Philippines.
In August of 1930, several newspapers reported his attempted suicide and near death. With slight variations, they report that he had a nervous breakdown and drank arsenic poison while driving a car.
