Adele Kaufman |
born:
05 November 1894 Rochester, New York, United States of America |
died:
05 November 1981 Orange County, California, United States of America (age 87) |
American actress. She worked as a stenographer for the Hal Roach Studios. In the Our Gang comedy "Seeing the World," her name (spelled "Adelle Kaufman") appears on a list of teachers in a newspaper that (in addition to star James Finlayson) also includes several other real-life Roach staffers including "Mollie" (Molly) Thompson and Frank Butler. Like Jacqueline Wells, Adele had the rotten luck to pass away on her birthday. In an interesting coincidence, Adele and Jacqueline each passed on their 87th birthday. Note about her full name: Her entry in the New York State Birth Index simply says "Adele Kaufman," but early census records give a full first name of "Adelaide" (or variants thereof), while the California Death Index provides the middle name of "Loretta." A 1909 list of graduates lists her as "Adelaide L. Kaufman." |
Real name: Adelaide Loretta Kaufman |
